For Panama City Commission, Ward 1

Robbie Hughes

Election Date: April 22nd, 2025

Meet Robbie

Hello! My name is Robbie Hughes and I am asking for your vote to be your Ward 1 City Commissioner.

I grew up in the charming neighborhood of the Cove in Panama City, where I experienced the warmth of a close-knit community. My childhood was filled with simple joys—playing baseball at Sudduth Park, riding my bike through the alleys, and spending afternoons playing games with my friends. Those early years instilled in me a deep appreciation for the bay and its natural beauty, a love that has stayed with me ever since.

I attended public schools, starting at Cherry Street, then moving to Rosenwald, and later graduating from Bay High. My education continued at The University of Alabama, where I developed a strong foundation and willingness to learn more while earning a Bachelor of Arts in History and English. It was during this time that I discovered a passion for real estate—a field that aligned well with my outgoing nature and desire to help others.
Since becoming a licensed Realtor in 1993, I have gained experience in negotiation, budgeting, management, and problem-solving, always with the goal of serving others. These skills have allowed me to build a career in real estate while also contributing as a collaborative and supportive team member.

Family is at the heart of everything I do. My parents, residents for over 50 years of Ward 1, have been guiding influences in my life. My mother, Judy, dedicated her career to service in education, making a difference in both public and private schools. My father, Bob, has been a steadfast mentor, using his expertise as a real estate attorney to find solutions and help others. Their example has shaped the values I hold dear.

My sister, a professor at the University of Georgia, has made meaningful contributions in her field, and I admire her deeply.

Above all, I take the greatest pride in my three children.—Savannah, who lives in Atlanta, is the leading grant writers for Boys and Girls Club of America, and is engaged to Sahil, a kind and driven young man; Brady, a talented musician who is successfully pursuing his dreams; and Dawson, whose creativity and kindness inspire me daily. Watching them grow and carve their own paths has been the most rewarding experience of my life. They are the true “why” as to my running for city council.

I am grateful for my partner Meg, who brings balance and joy into my life. Her kindness, generosity, and servant-hearted nature make every day better (and her baking is an added blessing!).

Giving back to my community has always been important to me. For over two decades, I have served on the Code Enforcement Board and Planning Board for Panama City and am currently a member of the Bay County Planning Board.

As current Chair of the Bay Education Foundation, along with involvement in additional local organizations, I remain committed to supporting and strengthening our community however I can.

The journey from my childhood in the Cove to my career in real estate has been one of learning, hard work, and gratitude. I am thankful for the opportunities I’ve had, the people who have shaped my path, and the chance to continue serving the community I love.
